Electric vehicles (EVs) are rapidly becoming one of the most significant innovations in modern mobility, gaining widespread adoption across the globe. This transformation is also accelerating in Turkey. According to data from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) Energy Transition Department, as of January 2025, the number of EVs in Turkey has exceeded 200,000.
This growth demonstrates that sustainable transportation is increasingly being embraced in the country, and EV owners’ satisfaction levels further support this transition. A recent consumer survey covering more than 20 countries found that 92% of electric car owners are satisfied with their vehicles.
Turkey’s Charging Infrastructure is Expanding
Alongside the increase in the number of electric vehicles, Turkey’s charging infrastructure is also rapidly developing. One of the key elements of charging stations is the number of charging sockets, which reached 27,000 as of 2025.
Looking at more specific figures, Turkey currently has a total of 26,941 charging sockets, categorized as follows:
• 16,000 AC (slow charging) sockets
• 10,000 DC (fast charging) sockets
These numbers indicate that EV owners in Turkey are showing a level of interest in mobility solutions comparable to users in Europe and the U.S.
Growth in Electric Vehicles and Charging Infrastructure
In January of the previous year, Turkey had a total of 88,000 electric vehicles. By 2025, this number has grown by 122%, surpassing 200,000.
Similarly, there has been a significant increase in charging infrastructure. The number of charging sockets has risen by 105% compared to the previous year.
This growth reflects that infrastructure investments are keeping pace with the rising demand from EV users. Turkey aims to expand its charging station network to provide EV owners with a more convenient and accessible experience.
Electric Vehicles are Shaping the Future
The increasing number of electric vehicles and advancements in charging infrastructure highlight the growing adoption of sustainable transportation in Turkey. With lower carbon emissions, quiet operation, and cost-effective driving advantages, EVs contribute positively both to the environment and users’ budgets.
Considering this rapid growth, Turkey is expected to remain a key player in the electric vehicle market. In the coming years, both EV sales and the expansion of charging infrastructure are projected to continue rising.
